Heal.

You know, as I created this list of words, I had no idea what I would post or where this would lead me each day, but I have to say, it’s been a remarkable ride so far.

Today’s word threw me for a loop until today. I have been really struggling lately – sleep, stress, tension, even feeling electrical pulses in my neck during the day. I just couldn’t seem to put a finger on my stress.

Then my friend pointed out to me that my “incident” or “incidents” that lead to my PTSD many years ago was right around this time. Funny how your body works, huh?

Today’s word is heal. Healing is a huge process of being able to find your quiet. And until you start that healing process, it’s hard to hear God in any space….when you are in the moment, you hear so much noise and so much chaos. It’s not until you are able to start processing through and starting your journey towards healing that the spaces around you start to quiet down. And there you can hear God.

Today’s scripture:

Heal me, Lord, and I will be healed; save me and I will be saved, for you are the one I praise.

Jeremiah 17:!4

As soon as those words from my friend were out in front of me today, my shoulders relaxed. Wow. The power of naming stress. The power of the healing process is profound.

Tonight as we sang the hymn “Find your Quiet Center,” it’s like the song was written about the whole healing process and about the journey many of us go on to heal from a myriad of things. Take a few minutes and read through the lyrics…or google the hymn and listen to it. It’s worth it.

Come and find the quiet center
in the crowded life we lead,
find the room for hope to enter,
find the frame where we are freed:
clear the chaos and the clutter,
clear our eyes, that we can see
all the things that really matter,
be at peace, and simply be.

Silence is a friend who claims us,
cools the heat and slows the pace,
God it is who speaks and names us,
               knows our being, touches base,
making space within our thinking,
lifting shades to show the sun,
          raising courage when we're shrinking,
               finding scope for faith begun.

In the Spirit let us travel,
     open to each other's pain,
let our loves and fears unravel,
               celebrate the space we gain:
there's a place for deepest dreaming,
there's a time for heart to care,
          in the Spirit's lively scheming
there is always room to spare!

The hymn just made me take a deep breath and relax. God is always working on healing us and making us whole. God is always working through us to help others through our experiences.

Celebrate those new spaces that God has opened up in your life. Continue to listen in those spaces… for healing is a powerful process. Healing allows us to continue to bloom…again.
