Purpose.

Today’s word is Purpose. I thought about this one all day. I even thought about it all day yesterday. I read the reading today from Romans:

Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is—his good, pleasing and perfect will.

Romans 12:2

All day, I racked my brain on what picture I would use for Purpose. I scrolled through pictures upon pictures looking for pictures of my 2 boys, my family, hubby, or all of us toegther.

But, then I asked Kirby tonight what my purpose was. (He had previously answered this question for his daycare provider earlier today, so I thought I’d tap into his brain too.) He smiled and said, “Mama, you and Kristall are almost the same. You teach kids to do better and to do what’s right.”

By Golly, I think you are on to something there, sweet Kirby!

So, with that new lens on today’s word, I immediately knew what my picture would be.

I teach kids with disabilities to keep going, to work hard, to try new things, to push themselves, because I believe there is a HUGE light at the end of the tunnel for each of them. I believe in them. And my job is to get them to see that light at the end of the tunnel. It’s about teaching them to believe in themselves and to keep pushing themselves.

I have so many of my former students who have come back and reached out to tell me how they are doing…and THAT is what it’s all about. Not just reaching my own kids, but my “kids” at school. All of God’s kids.

So, once again, I learn from a kid. My kid. Thanks Kirby. You are 100% right! I teach kids to do better and to do what’s right. I teach kids to believe in their ABILITIES. I teach kids to keep going. I teach them to see there is a light at the end of the tunnel they know as middle school…or even school in general.

Purpose.

Thank you to all of my “kids” who have continued to teach me each day. There is always a place in my heart for each of you.

One response to “Purpose.”
