Trust. Psalm 31:9-16

Trust. I used to trust everyone. Then, as I have grown older and experienced life, I trust fewer people than I care to admit.

When I think of trust, my kids come to mind. They trust me completely to help them maneuver their way through life. This picture that comes to mind is that of Kirby when he was so scared about getting stitches and he kept asking me about the process.

His little eyes tell me everything. He was so worried yet he trusted me in that he’d be ok and that I’d be there with him.

Then there is Punky. He is my old soul. He is well beyond his years most days. We have some pretty deep conversations. He trusts us as his parents. We know this especially by the questions he asks, the conversations he starts, and by just seeing him interact with life. He used to be such a nervous kid when he first started school, and now I look at him and am in awe of all that he continues to do each day to better himself.

Siblings fight. A lot. Their bickering can make our skin crawl. But dang it, if these two just don’t have the sweetest moments sometimes. They trust each other (most of the time). That warms my heart,

Just as my kids trust me, I in turn trust God. When we give Him our worries, our fears, our predicaments, He is always there. He always answers (although sometimes we don’t like His answers). We just need to keep Him in our lives each day.

I am getting better at this. It’s a journey.

The prayer tonight: Merciful God, your word is trustworthy and true, help me to grow in relationship with you so that in the midst of everything in life I may place my trust in you now and forever. Amen

Let me know what you’re thinkin’!
