Today’s word. Judge. This is something I have been working on for several years and that I hope to really drill into my kids.
As I sit here and toss around ideas for this post. I keep coming back to my kids. I teach them all the time that “they don’t know another person’s story” so they should treat them with love and kindness.
Maybe this comes from my training as a special education teacher especially these past few years with trauma training and more mental health issues occurring at such young ages. I come home and frequently remind my little family just how good we have it.
But, as I sit and think about these verses and their meaning, I keep coming back to my boys. They teach me lessons daily with their insights and takes on the world around them.
That innocence. That acceptance. The love. It’s all so pure.
Where do we lose that and fall into the traps of judgement? When do we start the questioning? The stereotypes? That’s all part of making judgments…When do we start to compare ourselves to others? When do we start pointing fingers? When do we start talking about others? Why do we do these things?
I listen to my boys and I smile at their insight; I pray their innocence and purity will continue awhile longer; I long for their simple ways. They have so much to teach me and others around them.
Tonight’s picture is a screenshot of the spring pictures we took this weekend with our friend Misty of Misty Mays Photography***. She captured the love; pureness; and innocence of my boys so well. My heart just swells.

Tonight’s prayer: Gracious God, forgive me for judging others and bless me with your hand of grace as I try to live with kindness and patience in my heart. In your name, I pray. Amen
