Toothless

This past Wednesday, Punky informed me that something was wrong with his tooth.  Upon closer inspection, I found it to be…..

wiggly!!!

WHAT?

Punky is 5!  😦  My baby can’t have a loose tooth!!!!

And so it continued to be a loose tooth until this morning…when I was greeted with the proudest grin I have ever seen beam from my child’s face…

The boy has lost his first tooth!

I was now on a mission… to find supplies to make this:

What is that?   THAT is a TOOTH FAIRY DOOR!   How stinkin’ cute is that idea?   My friend introduced me to it over at This Blessed Nest.

Super cute!

Well, we don’t have a Hobby Lobby in the Minneapolis metro area—–closest stores are down in Mankato and Rochester….and that’s too far for a “day” project!  Mind you, this thing  must be completed and hung by night fall so Punky can go to bed!  🙂

My friend and I headed out to this super cute little store: Little Enchantments in Minneapolis…the HOME DEPOT of Doll Houses!   We found the doors, door knobs (with keys!), door knockers, and mail slots!  (They had working outside lanterns and doorbells, but I decided I needed to draw the line somewhere!)

Next stop….Michael’s for craft paint, tacky glue, and glitter…

Home again to start the project!

Here’s the door while it was drying…

While the door was drying, I hopped on the computer to compose a letter from The Tooth Fairy…and I sent Hubby to the bank for a gold dollar coin, and a crisp new $10 bill.  (I figure the first tooth is pretty special!)  I wrote a letter…and then the tornado sirens started….as did the tears of one very scared little boy!

We headed into the basement…and I tried to console Poor Punky.  The tears were a streamin’!

After a few giggles and some exciting Tooth Fairy talk, the boy was back to his proud self!  Just check out that grin!

Good ol’ Phineas and Ferb calmed him down while I snuck upstairs and hung the door in his room.  (Don’t worry…the sirens were off!)

Here is his set-up waiting for that sneaky ol’ tooth fairy to stop in:

His little tiny tooth is in the bottom of that water-filled glass jar… and Punky knows that when the tooth fairy comes through that door, he/she will fly across the room to check if he’s really sleeping, then fly back to the jar; dip his/her wand into the jar to fish out that tooth….and with a swoop of that magic wand, the water in the jar will change a beautiful magic color!  And of course, the fairy will leave him some sort of reward for that beautifully white and shiny tooth!

We’ll see what the morning brings!

(Oh, and here’s a peek at the Tooth Fairy’s letter to Punky:

Dear Punky…  But of course, I cut it out, mounted it on cardstock and ran it through my laminater so it didn’t get all wet in the storms tonight!  I also taped his coin and 10 dollar bill to the back and left it propped up against the door with the colored water-jar, and of course some glitter……a sure-sign that the fairy appeared!)

I can’t wait to hear how it all works out!
