Ok, NOBODY (and I do mean, NOBODY!)  does a hot dog like Chicagoans!  They drag it through the garden, and it is quite simply, heavenly.   All my bloggy readers know about Chris &Rob’s in Fridley – actually known as “Hot Dogs and Choo-Choos” on this blog, so for National Hot Dog Day, we decided to get together with one of Punky’s friends from daycare and go to Chris and Rob’s…for FIVE CENT Chicago hot dogs.   Scrumptious!

The kids had a blast!   It was quite evident Punky and his buddy missed each other this summer!

Then. Punky’s buddy, Chris (As in THE Chris from Chris & Rob’s) posed for a picture with the kids before bringing them out free cookies for dessert.  The kids had an absolute blast that afternoon!

Thanks, Chris, for another memorable stop at your restaurant!

And for those of you who do NOT know what a Chicago Hot Dog is:

A Chicago-style hot dog is a steamed or boiled, never broiled all-beef hot dog (Vienna Beef is the preferred dog!) on a poppy seed bun.   The hot dog is topped with mustard, onion, sweet pickle relish (usually a dyed neon green variety called “Nuclear Relish”), a dill pickle spear, tomato slices or wedges, pickled sport peppers, and a dash of celery salt…it’s a TASTY EXPLOSION in your mouth!

For those of you who are VISUAL learners:

Absolutely delicious!
