3 made for TV movies in the 1980s have vividly stuck with me.

1) Adam

2) Alex: The life of a child

3) The Day After

I was obsessed with the movie Adam as a kid.  The movie came out when I was in third grade.  (The abduction occurred when I was in 1st grade.)  I remember watching it at home, and then years later as we sat at a car dealership waiting for my parents to be done with all of the paperwork and “haggling” that goes on…

Today, after all these years, a suspect has beem named and the case is  now closed.

After all these years, and now as a parent, I am in awe of John Walsh and all he has done for missing children in our country.  What an awful ordeal to have to go through…..and even now as it is finalized.   It has got to be so hard as the suspect is now dead…. he died in jail in 1996 while serving for an unrelated murder.  He can’t even ask why?

What a horrific story.  I can’t even imagine living without answers, and yet thousands of parents do each day.

    I dont believe this crap!
Lucas and O’toole claimed to kill many people while in prison. Many of which were proven to be false. They knew they would be studied and scrutinized for years before they both died from natural causes. It is SO easy for the Hollywood, Fla, police dept to say it is solved when there is no one to try in court. I dont want to hear about new evidence 27 years later, when they lost evidence years ago. Im a retired cop with 30 years and was on the street when this Walsh boy disappeared. This is baloney! How convenient for the Chief of Police to solve a 27 year old crime that no one else could, and get his name in the news. I dont believe it for a minute. The body was never found, only the head. O’Toole told them, but it was never found, where he said it was. He claimed to belong to the cult, Hand of Death. Yeah, Oh!, bullshhhhhht. He and Henry Lee Lucas was found to be liars, many many times. Im surprised John Walsh believes this crap. Sorry John, but your sons acclaimed killer is a known liar and the Hollywood Chief of Police is too. Trying to clear a case and make a name for himself. What a travesty of justice to claim that a man who has been dead for 12 years, and a proven liar. Shame on them both. I dont believe this crap for a second.

Wow…to the previous comment…but I had a related but unrelated story to add to this…recently my daughter went on a field trip with her second grade class. A friend of hers was in a different group. The friend’s group was told to get coats on etc to take the 10-15 minute walk back to the bus (Navy Pier)…the chaperone of this little girl noticed shortly after the group started walking that the little girl was missing from the group. She made a decision to keep going toward the bus and figured this second grader would catch up. The chaperone said nothing…she did nothing…it wasn’t until the group got to the bus that she mentioned the child was gone…as the school was calling the teacher …the little girl was safe…she found a docent of the muesem…they called the school… and she waited for a police officer dad/chaperone..to find her…didn’t recognize the man so made the docent call theschool again to make sure the man was safe to go with…the chaperone put this little girl in harms way but she knew what to do to be as safe as possible…we have used this opportunity to role play different situations with our kids and hope that others will also take the opportunity to talk about safe behaviors etc often…

Wow…….some pretty strong feelings out there! Tony, I don’t believe we’ve met here before…..

Kelly – That is super scary! Good for the little girl and her parents (obviously she knew what to do!) This is why I am always a mess on field trips! It’s horrendous trying to keep everyone together and safe! Thanks for sharing!
