We went to the mall this afternoon to go to “Let’s try to upsell to a toddler” Build-A-Bear Workshop since Punky had a gift card from KellyJo for Christmas…..

We entered the car sales lot store and were quickly pounced on showed how to maneuver around the store. I walked Punky along the shelves of animals so he could choose what animal he wanted. He was enamored with the cheetah.

We took the cheetah to station one where your animal gets its heart. The car salesman nice young girl asked Punky if he wanted a beating heart. Punky whispered “Yes” but luckily she didn’t hear him as Mommy and Daddy were shaking their head “no.” She handed him the beating heart and nicely trying to upsell her customer tried to persuade Punky. He felt the heart as it beat and handed it back to her. “Are you sure you don’t want it in? You can’t put it in anymore after we sew him up. Last chance.”

What? Let it go, girl! We don’t want the beating heart!

Punky then did his little song and dance for the girl as he kissed the little heart for the cheetah and put it inside of him. She stuffed the cheetah while he held the pedal down with his foot. Then she sewed up the back and sent us on our way to give him a “bath.”

Punky got to brush the cheetah after we “bathed” him. (station two)

Then, you get to saunter through the multitudes hundreds of outfits (station three) that you can dress your animal in…….we somewhat scooted Punky through there and right on over to the computers (station four) where the kids parents have to enter all but their child’s social security number into a computer so they get a “birth certificate” for the animal at the register.

When you walk through another maze of “accessories” for your animal, you can check out. They are again quite eager to make sure that you don’t want any clothes or accessories for your animal as they ring your animal up.

Nonetheless, Punky had a great time. He loves his Cheetah, whom we call Chester. Punky kept the box “Chester’s Condo” closed until we got home where he then proceeded to show him the house and Charlie, our cat. So, Chester got a quick tour of his new home, and then he partook in the reading of books while Mommy got dinner ready.

I can’t imagine taking a little girl into that store! Yikes! A person could go broke! (Or most likely have a screaming child crying through the store begging to accessorize!) Thankfully, Punky is still young!

Seriously though, thanks Kelly….we did have fun…and Punky loves Chester!

Cute cheetah! J picked out a turtle from Build-a-Bear in September. It was a gift from his aunt and uncle. J’s turtle’s name is Matthew. Matthew has a Shrek voice inside of him. 🙂

OH I love Build a Bear! Last Christmas I took my daughter there for a bear and then pictures with Santa… and yes I made a bear too. I’m just a big kid I guess.

Thank goodness the closest Build a Bear is 2 hours away or we’d be there all the dang time.

Cute! Build A Bear can get very expensive. Dominic earns popsicle sticks at home that kind of translate to currency. We use the store to help him understand money. We’ve been able to get out of there several times with him not wanting to use up all his sticks 🙂

I love that last picture of them reading the story.

I must admit I am a little bummed that you didnt have a better expierence……… I honestly have never been pressured any of the several times that we have gone not even a little bit (only pressure from my kids wanting bear clothes) but I am glad that punky had fun.

I really enjoy buid a bear:)

We like Build-A-Bear, but we haven’t take Little Dude inside, yet. The Hubby and I built a teddy bear and a bunny prior to his birth, though, as it was something I wanted to do… It can be spendy, but I think it can be fun if it is used as a very special treat, only.

Let me know what you’re thinkin’!
