I got up late today….but somehow ended up being “early” to wake up Punky and get him ready to go. I thought I’d go out to my car first and put my bags in the back, so I would have enough hands to carry Punky and his stuff out to the car when we left for daycare.
I tried to open the back door by pulling on the handle…..nothing.
I opened the front driver side door. Dark. No light.
Arrrrrrrrrrgh.
Let me back up a bit……Punky likes to pretend he’s “driving” sometimes. He’ll crawl up to the front seat and push buttons and pretend to steer, etc. This was fine during the summer when I’d sit in the car with him. This is not fine to do when it’s well below zero outside! Last night, Punky had a fit at Walgreens when we went to get in the car to go home. It was a nightmare! I was waiting for someone to call the police from the parking lot where this lady is trying to strap a screaming kid into the car…. When we got home, Hubby let him “drive” for a few minutes to settle down. However, while “driving” he hit the switch to turn on my dome light (and all the little mini dome lights around the car).
So, there I stood. 7:01 AM……Hubby is 30 miles away on his way to work. It’s -1 outside with an 18 below windchill! And. my. car. won’t. start.
I called my neighbor who came over to help. The jumper cables wouldn’t reach my car, so I had to put in in neutral (remember what a pain in the butt that is on my car? Read here.) And Bill and I pushed the car out of the garage. It. was. freezing. (Have I mentioned the windchill?) We hooked everything up……. the door “ding-ed” when I opened it since the keys were in the ignition……good sign! But it would not start! It. was. freezing. (Did I say that?)
So, we let the pickup idle all hooked up to my dead minivan. After 10 minutes, we finally got it started.
i. was. frozen.
Bill went back home. I went upstairs to wake up Punky. He got to go to daycare in his jammies today. (Thank you Kelly for getting him dressed once he got there!)
i. am. still. freezing. (7 hours later). Brrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr.

Let me know what you’re thinkin’!
