It was a long and busy day for us today. The family (Dad, Mom and the three kids…well, and me), and Pastor Debra met with hospice this morning at 9 AM. It was a very educational meeting where we learned all about the services and resources that are available for Mom and the family. She decided to go ahead and sign all of the papers this morning to get her started on services right away. She’ll see the hospice nurse one-three times a week and the social worker at least once a month. She’ll also have a health care worker come in twice a week to help her as well. She signed up for massage therapy too and is really looking forward to that!
This afternoon Dad, Mom, Hubby and I piled in the car along with the portable oxygen tank and went down to the hospital for another aspiration procedure. A little over 1 liter was again removed from around her right lung. She felt better after that procedure. In fact, on her way to the hospital, she said she was hungry, so afterward, we stopped at Panera and got her Black Bean Vegetable soup and a baguette to bring home. She ate half her soup and half her baguette when we got home! Yeah!
After lunch, Hubby and I left to let her rest. She had a long morning!
This afternoon, a humidifier for the oxygen tank was supposed to be dropped off, and tomorrow morning, she’ll be getting a new liquid oxygen tank which will then come with the portable pouch which will be MUCH easier to take out from the house than that huge clunky metal oxygen tank and cart!
This evening, Hubby went back over there with Punky to visit for a bit. We also brought one of our nieces back home with us to sleep over here for the night. Punky and I will bring her back tomorrow.
I’ll be heading back over there in the morning…then Hubby’s sister will be heading back home for a couple of days.
Keep us in your prayers! Today was a huge day, and we learned a lot of things about what is yet to come and support we have available. Many decisions still need to be made, but Mom is staying positive and has been quite the trooper this week! Let’s hope she has some relief from that procedure today so she can have a restful night again!
Good night!
