ok, in the past 24 hours I have had 3 unfortunate, sad events come to my attention.  (Why do they always come in threes?)

1) La La Passed away on Friday, June 8.  She lived next door to me when I was 0-2 years old.  I remember going over to her house to visit her.  I remember her perfume……to this day when I smell it, I think of her!   She was an amazing person……a tremendous teacher….and an awesome Mom!

2)  Crystal was killed in a car accident in Florida also on June 8th.   She was an amazing special education teacher in our district.   I worked with her on several district committees in the past few years.   Her poor family and young kids.  How heart-breaking! She flew to Florida to attend a funeral for a family member.  Her mother and her mom’s boyfriend picked her up from the airport and all three were killed in a head on collision!

3)   My department chair/dear friend resigned from her position today……she is thus leaving our school to take a teaching position at another middle school in our district.   What a loss for our building!   😦  She is a tremendous leader……and an awesome person to her core!

On a MUCH lighter note………… I thoroughly enjoyed my exhausting 1st day of summer with Punky!  We had so much fun together today!  I can’t wait for tomorrow!   (But first I need some much-needed shut eye before that little guy wakes up!)   Good night!

I know this response is late, but I have just come out of the dark haze that fell on me when Crystal died. How sad to lose Crystal and your department leader (I know her too) within one day. I know the loss of your department leader is different from the death of Crystal, but things won’t be the same without her there leading the department will they? These two incredible women have always held a special place in my heart, as they have a common link in my life. They both shared the desk next to mine at one point or another during the past 7 years. The memories of laughing and crying throughout those years are precious. Thanks for sharing your daily unwinding!

Let me know what you’re thinkin’!
