Mommy world

So, hubby is at the Twins game tonight with one of his friends….Punky and I had a bonding night!   We had fun!

I picked him up early from daycare and we headed over to my school so I could meet one of the secretary’s at her car to pick up a book (We love the same books, so we often swap.)  Then we headed over to the track meet at the high school.   It had rained a downpour for about 5 minutes prior to the meet, and it was HUMID as hell (Is hell humid or is it a dry heat?)  so we didn’t last very long there.   Poor punky’s cheeks were BRIGHT red from the heat!

We headed over to Chris & Rob’s for Chicago Style Hotdogs!   Yum!  Punky got excited and was chanting “ha da” in the back seat as I maneuvered through traffic to get there.   We got there and punky LEPT out of his carseat to scurry into the restaurant!  We ordered and paid.  (Punky even helped with his order!)  Punky frantically pointed to the booth repeating “Choo Choo Mommy, Choo Choo” as he knows if you sit there you’ll see freight trains go by.  So, we sat there and waited for our order.   Thankfully, a “choo choo” was displayed on the CNN Tv screen while we were waiting!  🙂   Punky wanted NOTHING to do with the high chair.   He sat in a “Big boy” booster seat for half the meal then decided he wanted to sit at the booth by himself.  So, I moved the booster seat and he happily continued to eat – dunking his french fries in ketchup and eating his “ha da.”  We sat there about 20-25 minutes.   He was quite worried about where my basket went as after I finished eating, a waitress came by and took it away.  He had a hard time understanding that.  He kept trying to get her attention by saying “Mommy” and pointing to where my basket had been.  He’s such a sweetheart!  Anyway, usually trains go by every 10 minutes or so…..but Punky was losing interest, so we headed out.  Wouldn’t you know that the second we stepped into the parking lot…we heard the “choo choo” whistles!  Punky’s head whipped around to watch with eyes wide open in amazement as now he could HEAR it and SEE it!   He loved it!  We watched until the whole thing passed…thankfully it wasn’t one of those multi-hundred car trains!

On the way home, I spoke with my sister and my mom on my cell phone.   Punky kept chanting “Ha Da” and “Choo Choo” in the background the whole way home!

When we got home, Punky has this fascination with our neighbors who live across the street to us.   He says “Biww” and “Judee”  for Bill and Jude.   He LOVEs waving to them and he is always on the lookout to see when they will appear on their back deck.  Well, they were out when we pulled up, so Punky kept repeating, “Mommy….Biww……Ha da…Choo Choo…” so we went over to tell Bill about the hotdogs and train.  As we were standing there, it started POURING rain.  Little boy’s lip quivered and then he burst into tears as we tore across the street to get back to our garage.   He did NOT like the rain.  I think it really freaked him out!

After we sat in the entry way and watched the rain fall quickly, we set out to play games and read books.  Punky hit the bath, and then we read a bit more.   I should have guessed that he wanted to watch his “Choo choo” video (Thomas the Tank Engine) tonight.  So we watched a few short snippets of that before heading to bed.

It was a great night!   I cannot wait until summer vacation!!!   I love being a mommy!
