The Monday Melee

1. The Misanthtropic: Name something (about humanity) you absolutely hate.
I absolutely hate when people look down as they pass you when you’re walking. Does it kill anyone to make eye contact , smile and/or offer a friendly “hello?”

2. The Meretricious: Expose something or someone that’s phony, fraudulent or bogus.

As I sit here today proctoring the MCA Test to my kids with learning disabilities, I get angered and annoyed with the whole Testing component of No Child Left Behind (or rather, Leave No Teacher Standing). My kids have various disabilities in which their work, assignments, and tests are modified or accommodated based upon their disability. This is done through their IEP (Individual Education Plan) which is a LEGAL document, mandated by the federal and state governments; however, when it comes time to do the state testing for NCLB, (another federally mandated program) these kids are not allowed any modifications. Hello?!?!? Watching these kids struggle through the math test today was so frustrating! They couldn’t do most of the work as it isn’t at their instructional level. Why do we set these kids up to fail?

3. The Malcontent: Name something you’re unhappy with.

My weight. I started up Weight Watchers last week, and have been doing well on it ! 😀 I’ll keep you posted as I weigh in tonight!

4. The Meritorious: Give someone credit for something and name it if you can.

My hubby. He was so nice this weekend and vacuumed out my car and detailed it! It looks brand-spanking new! He worked hard cleaning out all the crap in there! Thank you!

5. The Mirror: See something good about yourself and name it.
I am a caring person.

6. The Make-Believe: Name something you wish for.
Summer…….37 more days of school.

Let me know what you’re thinkin’!
