So, we were enjoying a nice evening with my in-laws celebrating hubby’s birthday, when all of a sudden we hear Punky crying desperately from his crib upstairs. I tell hubby if he helps his mom and dad pack up, I’ll go settle down Punky upstairs. “Deal.”

As I am turning the door knob to open his door, I decide that I will quickly turn on the light to see where his Nuk is, then I’ll turn it off again and rock him to sleep. So, I turn on the light…

and there stands Punky in the middle of his crib absolutely covered head to toe in puke! Ugh! The poor guy had no clue what had just happened to him. Whenever he smells something bad, he usually brings his upper lip up to his nose so he doesn’t smell it so much…(just like Mommy and Auntie Tabby!) So, there he stood with tears streaming down his face, trying not to smell his horrific surroundings.

I called for help from downstairs and hubby and Grandma were quickly up there cleaning up his bedroom while I took Punky in the bathroom for a bath. Man, he had vomit everywhere! A fine-toothed comb helped me clean out the chunks from his hair…and as soon he was out of his stinky jammies and crib and in the nice warm bath, he was happy as a clam! Poor kid…

So, that was my first experience as a Mommy with puke. I felt so badly for him that it didn’t even make me want to throw up right there next to him (like I do whenever I see anyone else throw up!) Everyone always says it’s different when it’s your own kid. I guess they are right!

Welcome to another aspect of motherhood … the sobering test of the yucky parts of being a mom.. it is amazing what you can do if it is for your kid ..whether they are 33 months or almost 33 years!!! Hmmm… wonder if he will sample his stool and smear it all over the crib like his mom did at 15 months….now that was a true test of parenthood in yucky times for your Dad and me!!!

Let me know what you’re thinkin’!
